A vibrant ocean of multi-colored Buddhist prayer flags color the cover of this notebook. Each flag is covered with prayers and mantras for peace, healing, and balance in nature. The prayer flag traces its origin to the victory banners used by kings of ancient India and similar banners that were flown from the tents of warriors in Tibet. As a symbol of triumphant joy, the significance of the victory banner translated readily to the Buddha, known as the Jina, the conqueror, for his victory over Mara, Lord of Illusion. When Buddhism came to Tibet, prayers printed on pieces of cloth were fastened to poles or strung on ropes at monasteries, temples, sites of unusual events, and places of natural power.
